About G.B.S
The Town of Glenburnie-Birchy Head-Shoal Brook (GBS) is located on Route 431 on the south side of Bonne Bay. The three Towns were settled around the late 19th century with Birchy Head and Shoal Brook being named for geological features and Glenburnie named as a tribute to the scottish origins of its original settler, Mr. Hugh McKenzie. The three communities became incorporated as one in 1978. The population according to the 2006 census was 275 residents. However, this number rises dramatically in the tourist season with part-time summer residents occupying 57 homes.
